Who are the Illuminati? Billionaires Australia Investigates

Are the Illuminati responsible for starting wars, shaping history and controlling the world’s wealth for nefarious means? The thousand-year-old secret society is the subject of some of the most elaborate conspiracy theories out there, but we want to know once and for all the extent of the power of the Illuminati and whether or not they really are controlling the world’s billions.
A humble beginning
When you read about the Illuminati’s role in history it tends to highlight the organisation’s work in shaping high-profile historical events to its own ends – world domination through an authoritarian state – but it didn’t start out like that.
The Bavarian Illuminati was an Enlightenment-era secret society founded in the 1770s and opposed superstition, prejudice and religious influence, and supported gender equality. The Roman Catholic Church put pressure on the German state’s ruler and the secret group was outlawed, leading them to be wiped out by the end of the 1780s.

What happened when they went underground?
In the years after the supposed abolition of the group they were fingered by church conservatives for helping spark the French Revolution. The period of huge political upheaval shifted the power from the church and monarchy, toward the rise of democracy and nationalism.
At this point history becomes vague. The remaining reports of the Illuminati and the New World Order, which they are purported to have formed, are sporadic and dotted through history, but the real identities of its members have never been confirmed.

The rise of the Invisible Empire
Guilds, trade unions and important members of society banded together to share learning and influence though societies like the Freemasons, who practice across Australia helping communities and holding secretive lodge meetings. It’s been said that the top level of the Freemasonry form the Illuminati or at least they hold a similar structure and ideas.
One thing that sparked rumour is the fact that the Illuminati’s finger prints were on the American Constitution. It’s believed a number of America’s Founding Fathers were Masons and understood their teachings. George Washington was aware of their influence and when warned about their plans to overthrow all governments and religion, on the cusp of the 19 century he wrote that he knew of “much of the nefarious and dangerous plan and doctrines of the Illuminati”.
Today the term is used to describe a small group of powerful individuals that are committed to the creation of a world government, with a single currency and religion. Their mark can be found on the US greenback. The Latin words under the pyramid on the one dollar bill were introduce by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a 32nd Degree Freemason, and say Novus Ordo Seclorum, meaning New Order of the Ages.

Globalisation has helped their cause
The expansion of international organisations that impact political policy and the dying power of the nation state create conditions which are perfect for this kind of society, whether or not they created these circumstances in the first place. The reason is these institutions are putting power in the hands of an increasingly smaller number of the world’s elite.
The International Crisis Group, the Council on Foreign Relations, the World Economic Forum, the Brookings Institution, Chatham House, the Trilateral Commission and the Bilderberg Group, have all been highlighted as potentially infiltrated or run by Illuminati.
Their ranks include the likes of politicians, chief executive officers, intellectuals and captains of industry that came to positions of power by taking over vital aspects of modern economies, such as the banking system, the oil industry or mass media. This meant they were able to effect concrete change like establishing the Federal Reserve, effectively putting the power of the banking system in the hand of a small group of people.

The super-rich dynasties at the centre of the conspiracy
The people that hold these positions are often  from billionaire Australia
